WIP Wednesday: Beary Awesome Edition

Moving right along....new week means new WIP! I'm currently stitching up a woodgrain patterned bear. The pattern is from flamgirlant, who just opened her Etsy store and I was lucky enough to be her first customer. The woodgrain bear is one of my all time favorite stitches, so I just had to have the pattern for myself. I've also got my eye on the houndstooth jackalope pattern.

I'm having lots of fun with this one. Plus it's given me more time (in theory) to finish some new patterns. I think I have 3 patterns that are very close to being done, but they're not quite what I want just yet. I haven't really been in a pattern making mood lately

Friday Five

Been watching a lot of 90210 lately. Some of it I've seen before, most of it I haven't. Just finished season 5, the first one with Valerie, and quite possibly where the show starts its downward slide. So here are the 5 most ridiculous storylines from season 5.

  1. Kelly gets burned in a fire and now has scars. Except that she doesn't. They couldn't even be bothered to do a half-assed makeup job a few episodes after the fire. And yet we're supposed to feel sorry for poor scarred Kelly.
  2. Andrea has an affair. Andrea was perfectly happy in her marriage and then all of a sudden she isn't. Must be all that ambition Jesse has. What a bastard. You never see Andrea and Jesse fight until after he finds out about the affair.
  3. Ray cheats on Donna with Valerie. I get Ray cheating on Donna since she won't give it up, but I don't buy that he would cheat on her with someone she knows and is "friends" with. Also, Ray is an abusive bastard and yet he can't handle Valerie and her manipulative BS?
  4. Steve gets off vitually unpunished from the house fire. I know, rich kids' parents get them out of everything, but between the people who were hurt in the fire, the fact that they basically broke into the house to have the party, there should have been A LOT more charges for Steve (and Griffin) to get out of.
  5. Dylan works on a screenplay with some guy he met at rehab. So stupid. I guess that if Dylan wasn't spiralling out of control the writers had no reason to write a good storyline for him.

WIP Wednesday: Endure Edition

Nothing in progress at the moment, and my computer is having some work done today (facelift) so I'll be busy working on that rather than pattern making.

I did finish last week's WIP.

endure

I think I give up on trying to take good pictures. Too many lighting and set up issues right now. It looks much better in person.

I got the idea from a book I read recently where the main character had to get through an awkward situation and kept telling herself to "endure". I thought it was a pretty relevant word for me right now.

Update!: you can buy this pattern in my Etsy store!

WIP Wednesday: Green Edition

Going through a phase where I don't know what's going on. Not completely sure what day it is, and last week I had to think really hard about whether it was 2010 or 2011. But that's not stopping me from stitching so who cares!

New WIP this week...nice and green just in time for St. Patrick's day which means absolutely nothing to me. Maybe I'll listen to Thin Lizzy or something to celebrate.

wip-end

This is actually my 2nd try at this stitch, I was originally going to stitch on linen but it was not agreeing with me at all so I had to change things up. So far, I'm happy with the change. Plus I get to keep my sanity and eyesight.

Friday Five

5 foods I can't resist

  1. burritos
  2. mashed potatoes
  3. fries
  4. cupcakes
  5. soft serve ice cream

Lyric Series #6

For this one, I decided to be less ambitious than on the previous lyric stitch and something a bit more basic with just a border around the words. For the border and colors I wanted to go with something that was a bit darker than usual.

Lyric #6- The Good Life

The lyric is from "Entertainer" by The Good Life. It's actually the very first line of the song.

Update!: you can buy this pattern in my Etsy store!

WIP Wednesday: Near Future Edition

Back in December, I talked about some projects that I hope to do after I move. But since I have no idea when that'll actually be, I've got to think about projects for the near future. A big part of keeping your sanity while unemployed is staying busy and feeling productive. So in the next month or so, I think I'm going to revamp the site a bit. Well, a lot. I want to reorganize some things and update the color scheme to add some more personality. Right now I'm working on boosting my Photoshop and Illustrator skills, so what better way to put them to use than working on my site.

In the stitchy department, I finished my latest stitch and will be starting a new one later tonight (so no pictures). Tomorrow I'll show off the completed lyric stitch.

Friday Five

5 albums I plan to spend more time with this year

  1. Rid of Me- PJ Harvey
  2. Dry- PJ Harvey
  3. I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning- Bright Eyes
  4. Screaming for Vengeance- Judas Priest
  5. Forget- Twin Shadow

WIP Wednesday: Late Edition

Finished the outer border, by next week I should be onto the text. I've also been in pattern making mode. I'm currently working on 3 new patterns simultaneously. I'm doing different things will all of them so it's pretty confusing/stupid of me to do the patterns at the same time. But really I'm just happy that my creativity seems to have returned.
